Construction of Hybrid Flooring
- Commercial Grade Wear Layer – The wear layer on hybrid vinyl flooring contains the same aluminum oxide finish as a laminate. This wear layer combines the same dent, stain, UV and scratch resistance that makes laminate such a popular choice among consumers. Most hybrid floors will have an AC rating attached to them, instead of a standard mil vinyl wear layer.
- Design Layer – The design layer will have the same realistic textures and styles available as a laminate. Get a real wood look with handscraped texture or a slate finish stone look.
- Waterproof Core – A hybrid vinyl floor will have a rigid core construction giving the floor added stability and dimension.
- Attached Cork Backing – An attached underlayment may not be always be included. An added underlayment will add sound absorption and added cushion. This model is specific to the Amrstrong PRYZM hybrid vinyl flooring.
Benefits of Hyrbid Flooring
With a hybrid vinyl floor, you are getting a superior floor that is water proof and equally as durable. Flooring leaders have engineered these vinyl planks to eliminate common complaints of regular vinyl and laminate.
Waterproof: Hybrid vinyl planks are 100% waterproof and can be used in residential and commercial applications. These can be installed above and below grade.
Durable: Hybrid vinyl planks feature a rigid core with the top coating of a laminate. With these features, planks are dent, scratch, stain and UV resistant, giving you planks that will hold up to pets, kids and foot traffic.
Appearance: These planks are eye catching with imaging technology, texture and edges that mimic the real look and feel of traditional hardwoods, without all the maintenance.
DIY Installation: Hybrid flooring features the same tongue and groove click locking system as laminates and vinyls. It can be easily DIY installed with little equipment.
Commercial Projects: Hybrid vinyl flooring is a great option for commercial spaces. Not only do you get the waterproof qualities of a vinyl, but you get the surface durability, stain resistance and fade resistance of a laminate.
Comfort: Hybrid vinyl flooring features a rigid core construction that is dense and thicker than traditional vinyl flooring. If you choose a hybrid floor with attached underlayment or opt for an underlayment beneath your hybrid flooring, you will have added cushion and sound absorption.
Sound: With a laminate or hardwood, you may have a hollow sound when you walk on your flooring. With the rigid core technology, you will have a very solid step on your flooring that should produce little sound. If you opt for underlayment, the sound will be very light!
Easy Maintenance and Cleaning: Laminate and vinyl are both easy to clean and maintain. A hybrid floor is no different! Regular sweeping, spot cleaning and weekly deeper cleaning is all you need.
